Plan an Event

People across Canada are holding events to raise awareness about the AIDS pandemic, and to raise funds for the Stephen Lewis Foundation to support community-based projects that are turning the tide of HIV and AIDS in Africa.

Join the movement... We've got lots of tips to help you get started!

  • If you are organizing an event in Alberta, please read the important information about the Alberta Fundraising Act (AFA) in the Fundraising FAQs section.

Event and Fundraising Ideas

  • Take on a Dare to Remember – challenge yourself to an act of courage, ingenuity, determination, or strength in community. Click here to find out more!
  • Bike, walk, run, or swim and invite your family, friends, colleagues and classmates to sponsor you. Create an online giving page and send out the link!
  • Invite some friends over for a home-cooked meal and ask them to make a donation equivalent to what the meal would cost them at a restaurant. Download some donor forms here.
  • Make a family celebration even more meaningful by asking your guests to donate to the Foundation instead of buying gifts. Create an online giving page here.
  • Shine a light on the musical talent in your community and raise some money by putting on a concert. Sell tickets, ask for donations, and if you’re really motivated, hold a silent auction to add to your fundraising revenue.
  • Donate the proceeds from your sales – whether a percentage of your business profits, or from your own handmade crafts.

Be as creative as you want. You've got the skills and talent to do something wonderful!
