Many of them tell me about their engagement around the AIDS pandemic through their studies of social justice and global issues. I know that your collective work and commitment will be an enriching experience and provide another example of how Canadian schools and students can make a tangible difference in the world.

The Toronto District School Board and the Stephen Lewis Foundation launched a partnership on December 1, 2011 World AIDS Day. “This arrangement will help to raise awareness about the AIDS pandemic in Africa, and give students opportunities for engagement and involvement,” said TDSB Superintendent Jeff Hainbuch. Elements of the partnership will see the development of a curriculum resource document for elementary and secondary students, Professional Learning for Teachers and Social Justice Student Leadership Programs.
