Seedy Saturday Eco-Fair
Saturday, February 28th, 2009 2-6pm
Artscape Wychwood Barns (601 Christie St) Toronto, Ontario
Hello friends,
Some of you may recall that the last couple of years I have had a fundraising table at the Seedy Saturday Gardening and Eco Fair, an annual event organized by the Toronto Community Gardening Network and some other great community groups (listed in the notice below). I sell houseplants, worm compost, morning glory seeds, and some crafty items like handmade greeting cards. I'm selling all that again this year, plus homemade gingerbread cookies in nature shapes! I donate all the money I receive to the Stephen Lewis Foundation to fund community-based projects that are turning the tide of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa.
This year's Seedy Saturday is on February 28th from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. I would love for you to come to check out the event. There will be food, kids' activities, gardening workshops, and lots of neat vendors and community groups with garden items and environment info. There are usually some book sellers and craft tables too. (I'm always pleased to see the sprout vendors, the "You Grow Girl" t-shirts, and the woman dressed up as the "Seed of Possibility".)
This year the event is at the Artscape Wychwood Barns on Christie Street near St. Clair -- a new project "that has brought together arts, culture, and environmental leadership". Seedy Saturday is good chance to see this exciting new community centre if you haven't yet. (You'll find directions to the Artscape Wychwood Barns at http://www.tcgn.ca.)
And, I kid you not, the theme of this year's Seedy Saturday is "Potatoes". Does it get any better than that?!
Hope you can come to check it out ... and bring friends! It really is a lot of fun and a nice reminder that spring is on the way.
Thanks,
Anne Carbert
