Plan An Event
Thousands of people are holding events across Canada to raise money for grassroots HIV/AIDS programmes in Africa through the Stephen Lewis Foundation. Join us to turn the tide of AIDS in Africa!
- Take a walk, or a bike ride, or a run, or a swim. Get your family and friends and colleagues and classmates to sponsor you for an amount that will really make a difference. And then persuade them to join you and raise even more!
- Invite everyone you know for a home-cooked meal and ask them to make a donation — which is at least equivalent to what the meal would cost them at a restaurant. And then, challenge your guests to host a dinner party of their own.
- Hold a street sale — not just a garage sale. Organize your neighbours, poster your neighbourhood, advertise in your weekly papers and make it a community event that brings in hundreds of potential buyers.
- Put on a concert at your local church or school or community centre. Shine a light on the musical talent in your community and raise some money through ticket sales and donations. This is also a great opportunity to hold a silent auction to add to your fundraising revenue.
- Be creative and come up with your own event or fundraising initative. You've got the skills and talent to do something amazing! For more ideas and inspiration, check out the share ideas section of the website to learn more about what others are doing to turn the tide.

This October, Stephen Lewis is challenging Canadians to participate in A Dare to Remember: ordinary people doing extraordinary things. All proceeds will go to the Stephen Lewis Foundation to support community-based organisations that are turning the tide of AIDS in Africa.
